Generalist Nursing Practice
In the first paper of the Generalist Nursing Practice, I assessed my own health and well-being using the Health Beliefs Survey provided in Nursing 310. I then looked at Nursing Wellness Diagnoses to determine which best fit the description of my health. I took this a step further than required by finding a mental health-screening tool to describe my recent mental state. I then determined the best course of action for improvement. I believe I demonstrated by looking beyond my physical state that health care is not just the physical definition of health. I recognized the importance of using an interdisciplinary approach to health.
In the childhood obesity paper, I looked at the growing problem of childhood obesity in this country. I identified the need for changes in the individual, family, groups and communities necessary to promote health in children and future generations. I examined the evidence of causes and effects of childhood obesity and looked at current treatments and programs being used to change this national epidemic.
The third attachment is the accompanying power point to the paper done in a group to demonstrate the need for a senior daycare in Mecosta County. This power point exhibits the necessity of organizing a multidisciplinary team in the care of the senior citizens of Mecosta County. The importance of this concept to individuals, multigenerational families, and the community is shown while also looking at the increasing needs of seniors nationally. I discussed in the previous section, Collaborative Leadership, that I frequently took on a leadership role during this project. (See self-assessment, Helping Hands, Collaborative Leadership)
